Graphic for News Item: Transocean Removes All Assets from Western Australia

Transocean who last year had four rigs in Australian waters, has now taken its last remaining rig in the area off contract with Inpex and into Singapore for extensive repairs.

The move leaves Transocean with no rig presence in the region for the first time in over twenty years.

Our source who requested not to be named stated: “Transocean have now lost all their contracts in Australia. It’s a terrible situation that has resulted in Transocean announcing the closure of their Australian office with all remaining staff being made redundant”.

The withdrawal of the Jack Bates comes only months after Esso Exploration Angola Ltd and Murphy Oil Corp announced they were cancelling their contracts in the region earlier than originally planned.
