Oil and Gas People was nearby today when a Bristows rescue helicopter landed at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with a patient who is not thought to be in a serious condition.

The Super Puma rescue helicopter with a 5 strong crew including 2 pilots a medic, a winch man and a winch operator, landed just after 1.30pm. The patient had a 10-minute wait for an ambulance, which gave the crew some times to stretch their legs.

The helicopter is based offshore on the Ecofisk field in the Norwegian sector and was called to medevac a patient from Ensco 101, a drilling platform currently working in the UK sector. It is not thought the patient was injured in any way with the medevac described to us a precautionary.

The Coastguard co-ordinated the operation and were on hand at ARI to meet the inbound helicopter and make safe the hospital landing area.

Aberdeen Coastguard has a Facebook page where you will be able to see more pictures from todays operation. Show your support for the fantastic job they do and give their page a like.
