Pioneering Moment for Pioneering Spirit
Oil and Gas People last week reported that the giant Pioneering Spirit offshore vessel was nearing the Yme platform in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea, in a move to lift the Yme topside.
The brand new Heavy Lifting Vessel from Allseas has been designed to lift and move massive objects such as Norways Yme Platform which weighs in at around 105000 tonnes.
If all goes well the Pioneering Spirit will also find itself performing one of the biggest lifts mankind has ever performed when it removes the 24,000 tonne Brent Delta Topside in the North Sea.
The images released by Allseas show the vessel (right) eyeing up it’s prey. According to current AIS data, the Pioneering Spirit is now underneath the topside, preparing for the momentous occasion when it lifts the Yme platform onboard to transport it to it’s decommissioning location.
