Green Light to Repsol to Extend the Life of North Sea Field
Spanish oil company Repsol has been given consent by Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to extend the life of the Rev field located offshore Norway until April 2021.
Repsol is the operator of the Rev field, which is located in the south of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea and its partner is Petoro with the remaining 30% interest.
The Rev field is located in, Block 15/12, approximately 221 km from the Aberdeenshire coast in Scotland and 225 km southwest of Stavanger in Norway. The field is located approximately 3 km from the UK Norway median line in water depths of 90 – 110 m.
Rev was proven in 2001, and the plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved in 2007. The field has been developed using a subsea template with three gas production wells tied to the Chrysaor-operated Armada field on the UK continental shelf.
In order to recover the remaining resources in the Rev field, Repsol has applied for consent to extend the life of the field and the safety authority has granted consent to extend until until April 1, 2021.
Consent has been granted based on Repsol’s documentation of assessments which conclude that the facility can continue to be operated responsibly and in compliance with regulatory requirements, the PSA explained.
