Explosion and Fire Reported at Oil Refinery
An incident is ongoing at Motiva Plana in St James Parish in Convent, Louisiana.
Firefighters said they are responding to a large fire at the Motiva plant in Convent, Louisiana.
No injuries have been immediately reported.
Officials with the St. James Parish’s Office said the refinery fire was contained to one heavy oil unit.
But one eye witness told Oil and Gas People that the fire appeared to be out of control and spreading.
All personnel have been accounted for, officials said. However, the Sheriff’s Office said it is checking with contractors to ensure all their workers are safe.
Highway 70 has been shut down near the refinery as a result of the fire.
