EDIF ERA Expands Its Training to Australia

Graphic for News Item: EDIF ERA Expands Its Training to Australia

Edif ERA is a leading technical training provider that continues to strengthen its training capabilities as it expands world-wide. In July 2016 the company celebrated its first year anniversary in providing vocational ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and API (American Petroleum Institute) plant inspection courses to the international petrochemical, nuclear and renewable energy industries. Its global outreach has seen it deliver courses across the UK, Europe, USA and Australia, helping companies and individuals build upon their expertise within the field of plant inspection.

This week, Edif ERA returned to Australia to deliver ASME plant inspection training to staff at Asset Reliability Inspections Pty Ltd in Bunbury.

Paul Wilkinson, Technical Training Manager at Edif ERA comments,

“Having successfully delivered our ASME plant inspection courses earlier in the year, we are delighted to return to Australia and work with Neil and his team at ARI. It’s great to see a company that recognises the importance of continual development of pressure equipment inspectors. By increasing their knowledge in pressure equipment, the end result is a better quality inspection and, ultimately, a safer plant with reduced downtime.

Australia currently has its successful AICIP (Australian Institute for the Certification of Inspection Personnel) programme which is highly regarded in the region. The ASME plant inspection certification is not a qualification that intends to directly compete with AICIP certification but rather strengthen the inspectors’ competence and knowledge base relating to ASME constructed pressure vessels and pipework. Many pressure vessels in the Australian oil and gas industry are ASME imported vessels rather than the Australian design standard. Our programme can be run anytime during the year with a fast turnaround of results allowing candidates to be trained, recognised and on the job sooner which is more flexible than AICIP’s twice yearly programme.”

We are seeing demand grow and, more recently, we have been training government inspectors from the National Petroleum Authority in Ghana who will be returning to the UK later in the year to undertake the ASME Plant Inspector Level 2 course having successfully completed the Level 1 course.

We pride ourselves in the ability to deliver bespoke courses at the clients’ requests from PSSR familiarisation through to fitness-for-service assessment courses.”

Neil Young, Managing Director of ARI and a Director of the Australian Institute for Non-Destructive Testing comments,

It’s great to have Edif ERA back to perform further training with us. We used to send staff to the UK but with Edif ERA’s global presence and willingness to come to Australia, it has made upskilling staff much easier, especially now that the courses have been amended to include the local governing rules and regulations rather than have staff trained on the UK PSSR regulations when attending courses abroad. The ASME courses are also non-renewable making managing staff’s formal qualifications much easier. We look forward to continuing our relationship with EDIF ERA and wish it every success with its Australian presence.

Mike Hutchison a QC/QA consultant who recently gained his ASME Senior Plant Inspector certificate goes on to say:

“I recently attended Edif ERA’s ASME Level 2 Plant Inspection course. Having attended numerous courses throughout my career, I found Edif ERA to provide an excellent service, from first enquiry to receiving my certificate: it was both highly professional and pleasurable.

The training provided by Paul Wilkinson was professional and relaxed which made for a very informative yet still an enjoyable experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Edif ERA training to friends and colleagues, and will most certainly be attending courses in the future with them.”

Edif ERA specialises in qualifications relating to the in-service inspection of static pressure equipment such as pressure vessels, process pipework, PRVs and storage tanks. The company is a leader in delivering API ICP examination preparation courses with average course pass rates of 90% plus.
