Oil and Gas People has learned that at least 24 Wood Group staff employed on the BP operated Sullom Voe Gas Terminal have been served with a 30 day consultation notice.

The staff affected have been told the consultation period is a formality as BP has withdrew the positions and their jobs no longer exist.

The positions affected make up a big part of the Wood Group management team on site and include, E&I Superintendents, Mech Superintendents, Health and Safety, Doc Control, Material Control, Support Managers, Construction Managers & Ops Managers.

It is understood Wood Group still have the contract for some trades positions and supervisors. Neither side has disclosed the reason for the sudden change and Wood Group has refused to issue a statement.

The Sullom Voe Terminal is an oil and liquefied gas terminal at Sullom Voe in the Shetland Islands of Scotland. It handles production from oilfields in the North Sea and East Shetland Basin.
