Aker solutions have confirmed they will shed a further 280 jobs as the oil downturn continues to bite.

The cuts will be made mainly from their Aberdeen and London offices with the consultation process with its workforce beginning today.

David Clark, Aker Solutions’ regional head for Europe and Africa, said: “These are tough but necessary measures to help ensure we stay competitive during a challenging time for our industry.”

Aker solutions employs 15000 permanent staff around the globe with 2500 based in the UK.
