Hunt Oil has confirmed that it plans to reduce its headcount by 10%. The Texas-based company is believed to employ over 4000 people and says the job loses are as a result of the lower oil price.

The job losses are expected from its subsidiary Hunt Consolidated.

Chevron in Houston has also confirmed an 8% cut to its workforce with 655 office jobs being slashed.

The cuts target the company’s four offices in downtown Houston. The company did not disclose what positions would be affected.

It is estimated the latest cuts bring the total number of oil and gas job loses around the world to 320,000 with 63,800 in Texas.
