Worlds Largest Offshore Wind Turbine Installed in UK Waters for First Time
Dong Energy has released the following pictures of the first installation of the worlds largest offshore wind turbine.
Dong Energy described the huge wind turbine as an “awesome sight”
At 195m, a bit taller than two Big Bens (96m), the MHI Vestas 8MW wind turbine has been installed at the Burbo Bank Extension Offshore Wind Farm in the UK.
The Burbo Bank Wind Farm is located just west of Liverpool and contains 25 operational units producing 90MW of power. The Extension Project complete with the worlds largest wind turbines aims to increase this power output to 250MW.
