Subsea 7 to Work on CNOOC’s Gas Field Project Fffshore China
UK subsea engineering and construction services company Subsea 7 has been awarded a sizeable contract by COOEC for CNOOC’s Lingshui 17-2 gas field development project offshore China.
Subsea 7 defines a sizeable contract as being between $50 million and $150 million.
The Lingshui 17-2 field is located in the South China Sea approximately 150km offshore Sanya, Hainan province. The field water depth ranges from 1450m to 1560m.
Subsea 7 said on Tuesday that the contract scope includes transportation and installation of five steel catenary risers with diameters ranging from 10″ to 18″.
Project management and engineering will start immediately at Subsea 7’s offices in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with offshore operations taking place in the first half of 2021.
Christopher Ratajczak, Vice President Asia, said: “We recognize the importance of this project to both COOEC and the operator, CNOOC. We are delighted that they have selected Subsea 7 as their partner. It further demonstrates the trust that clients put in our ability to deliver technically challenging projects in deep water.”
Several contracts have already been awarded for the Lingshui 17-2 gas field development project.
Aker Solutions was hired last year to deliver the subsea production system and umbilicals for the Lingshui 17-2 gas field. The subsea production system consists of 11 horizontal subsea trees, four manifolds, topside and subsea control system and a vertical tie-in connection system. Aker Solutions started fabrication work on the project in September 2019 with the first steel cutting of subsea manifold in Tianjin, China.
In April 2019, COOEC hired Keppel O&M subsidiary, Keppel FloaTEC, for the provision of engineering services in support of the construction of the Lingshui 17-2 production semi-submersible unit. Keppel FloaTEC said that the Lingshui 17-2 would be the world’s first deep-water semi-submersible production floater with condensate storage facilities.
In addition, InterMoor signed a contract to install deepwater mooring systems for the Liuhua 16-2 and Lingshui 17-2 floating production units.
