The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Statoil Petroleum AS a drilling permit for well 7317/9-1, cf. Section 8 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Well 7317/9-1 will be drilled from the Songa Enabler drilling facility, at position 73°27’50.46″N and 17°48’10.53″E after completing the drilling of wildcat well 7435/12-1 for Statoil Petroleum AS in production licence 859.

The drilling program for well 7317/9-1 relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 718. Statoil Petroleum AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 60%.

The other licensees are Dea Norge AS (20%) and Petoro AS (20%). The area in this licence consists of the blocks 7317/8 and 7317/9.

The well will be drilled about 75 km northwest of the discovery 7319/12-1 (Pingvin) and about 370 km from Hammerfest.

Production licence 718 was awarded in 2013 in the 22nd licensing round on the Norwegian shelf. This is the first well to be drilled in the licence.

The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activities.
