Smoke in Cabin Forces Bristows Helicopter to RTB

Graphic for News Item: Smoke in Cabin Forces Bristows Helicopter to RTB

On Tuesday the 1st of November, a Bristow’s Helicopter was forced to Return to Base (RTB) at Aberdeen after passengers reported seeing smoke onboard and smelt a distinct burning smell during a flight to the Judy platform.

Passengers were shocked when they were informed by Bristows that what they saw was apparently not smoke and fumes, but what they alleged to be ‘dust’.

The helicopter did not declare an emergency.

One passenger told Oil and Gas People how he could feel his feet burning up during the flight and how the passengers on board the helicopter believed the heater hose under the floor had went.

Oil and Gas People have tried to get an official statement from Bristows, but have yet to receive a response to our request for information.
