Oil giant Shell has been given with a list of improvement points following an audit of its Nyhamna facility by the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA).

The audit into working conditions at the Nyhamna facilities Central Control Room resulted in several improvement points being raised.

Shell is the operator of the Nyhamna plant.

The audit looked specifically at the plants alarm systems and whether these were sufficient to support the control room operators in the management of the plant under a range of operational situations.

Another audit looked into Shell’s own mapping and follow-up of control room conditions which included an assessment of operators instruction, training and overall workload.

Although zero non-conformities were raised, improvement points were made relating to alarm load, foot traffic in the central control room and the sound level of alarms.

Shell has a standard timeframe to inform the PSA on how improvement points will be rectified.
