“We are planning to sign a number of new agreements, including on production projects, such as Sakhalin-1. And we also hope that today Exxon [Mobil] will sign an order for two tankers,” Sechin said.
According to Ushakov, the energy sector is a strategic area of cooperation between Russia and Japan, which already involves Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 oil-and-gas projects as well as the construction of the Yamal-LNG plant. The 2016 Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) will be held in Russia’s Vladivostok on September 2-3.
