Plexus to Provide Well Head Services to Maersk Oil North Sea
Plexus has signed a new four-year contract with Maersk Oil North Sea UK to provide wellhead, mudline suspension systems and associated services.
Under the initial purchase order (PO), Plexus will prepare and provide POS-GRIP HPHT Surface Wellhead systems and Tersus mudline suspension equipment on a stand-by basis.
The equipment will be ready to be mobilised when the relief wells need to be drilled during the development of Maersk Culzean platforms in the UK Central North Sea.
The contract comprises supply of additional exploration wellhead equipment for future appraisal wells in the Culzean area and also includes an additional one-year extension option.
Plexus CEO Ben Van Bilderbeek said: “This is a fantastic contract for Plexus, which will help to underpin our future revenues, as well as delivering the opportunity for further exploration well business with Maersk.
“It is also fitting that Plexus has been awarded this contract for the high profile Culzean Development, as we were involved in the initial exploration wells with Maersk in the Culzean field.”
In 2008, Maersk Oil and its co-venturers discovered the Culzean gas condensate field, which has resources estimated at 250 million to 300 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Plexus’s POS-GRIP friction-grip method of wellhead engineering has been used in more than 400 oil and gas wells by multiple international companies.
Recently, the company completed the supply of an X-HPHT exploration wellhead to Total for the Solaris well, which is also located in the North Sea.
