Open for business: North Sea opportunities to be reinforced at key conference
The significant opportunities still to be seized within the North Sea offshore industry will be considered at one of the sector’s flagship events, the annual conference organised by Oil & Gas UK.
To encourage wide participation in the two-day event during this challenging time for the sector an ‘efficiency ticket’, which is transferable between employees from the same company, has been introduced.
‘Open for business’ is the theme of the June 14 and 15 event which will involve many of the sector’s biggest and best known names in the operator and supply chain communities.
The efforts industry is making in the current climate to be as cost effective and efficient as possible will form one of the strands of the conference at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Work underway in areas such as asset stewardship, exploration, innovation, carbon capture and storage and the carbon footprint plus workforce engagement will also be debated at the conference which last year attracted more than 500 people from industry, government, the regulators, academia and other trade associations.
Deirdre Michie, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, said: “Billions of barrels of oil and gas have yet to be recovered from the North Sea and these prospects, together with the world-class supply chain, an improved cost base and a much more competitive tax regime, make the UK Continental Shelf a really attractive province.
“Our conference will bring together leading figures from our sector – plus representatives from other industries – to discuss the many opportunities still out there which are well within our grasp. We hope that enabling delegates from the same company to share a ticket this year will ensure a broad audience benefits from attending. While we may be in the grip of a downturn, ours is an enduring industry that is very much open for business.”
