Leakage of Liquified Petroleum Gas at Equinor’s Mongstad Stopped

Right before 08:00 on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 a liquified petroleum gas (LPG) leakage occurred at one of the Mongstad facilities. At 09:15 it was reported that the leakage had been stopped.

All personnel not involved in the emergency response work have evacuated, and all personnel have been accounted for.

Emergency shutdown and depressurizing of the leaking unit were implemented.

The facility where the leakage occurred produces naphtha, a component used in gasoline/petrol production.

The authorities have been notified and securing of the facility is underway.
