Offshore exploration company Faroe Petroleum will drill for hydrocarbons in the North Sea, offshore Norway.

The oil industry safety body Petroleum Safety Authority Norway, on Wednesday said it had granted Faroe Petroleum consent for exploration drilling over the companies production licence P 740.

PSA said the drilling of the Brasse prospect, as the well is named, will be carried out using the Transocean Arctic semi-submersible drilling rig.

The well is located 16 kilometers south-east of Oseberg A and around 93 kilometers west of Sotra in Hordaland. Water depth at the site is 188 metres.

The drilling will start in the second half of May at the earliest, with an estimated duration of up to 57 days.
