Ex Oil & Gas Recruiter Finds New Career with Drone Company
There is no question that the downturn of the oil & gas Industry has had a dramatic effect on the local economy and job market.

Jo a former Oil & Gas Recruitment specialist had over 13 years’ experience within the well construction arena working for specialist consultancy companies both in the UK and Middle East.
Recognising that growing recruitment businesses is effectively sales (in this case, of people and a service) Fennel recognised that the people skills / professional relationship element, coupled with experience of having worked in what is a very challenging & saturated marketplace, the oil industry actually offered the exact skillset they desired in someone who could drive their business forward.
Jo is relishing her new challenge and marketplace and it was the attitude and foresight of her new colleagues in recognising her transferable skills that attracted her to the role. Jo says ‘’ All too often hiring managers get hung up on candidates requiring identical, like-to-like skills or specific industry experience whereas the reality is, you can teach someone an industry, service or product but you cannot teach someone to have the right approach, personality, drive or attitude and it’s the behavioural traits of employees that determine their success, not identical matches on a CV.
‘’Additionally there is a strong opinion that those venturing out with the Oil & Gas Industry are only doing so for the duration of the downturn and will return as soon as an opportunity arises however Jo believes that this, although accurate in some cases, is not true for many and companies adopting this opinion are hugely missing out on the opportunity to hire incredibly talented, capable and committed employees.’’
