BP Remove 2 Workers after Syringe Found in Laundry on North Sea Platform
2 Workers removed for further testing after failing drugs test
Oil and Gas People has learned that two people have been removed from a BP project after an incident on the Safe Caledonia accommodation barge offshore. The Prosafe barge currently on hire to BP is part of the ETAP life extension project and is providing accommodation for 400+ workers.
It is reported that on Friday last week a syringe was discovered in the laundry by one of the housekeeping staff. The discovery led to BP Occupational Health department sending out a team to drug test all 400+ workers.
The team consisting of a doctor and three medics completed the testing over the weekend and Oil and Gas People has learned that a Scaffolder and another contractor on board both failed the test and have been removed from the asset for further testing.
It is believed that it has since been discovered that the syringe found may actually be part of a paint testing kit.
