Shell Apply to Increase Shearwater Production With Three New Wells
Oil Major Shell has confirmed today that it will apply to increase production from the Shearwater field in the UK North Sea.
The application will include three new sidetrack wells which would be brought online during the course of this year.
However Shell require formal approval to bring the wells online, as the additional wells would bring the operator above it’s licensed production limit for the field.
Shell has sent a revised environmental proposal to the UK’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) as part of the application.
A spokesperson for Shell said: “We can confirm that an environmental statement has been submitted to BEIS in support of a forthcoming production consent increase application to be made to the Oil and Gas Authority for the Shearwater field in the Central North Sea.”
External parties have 28 days to raise any concerns as part of the consultation process.
