Aker Cuts 650 Jobs Across UK, Norway and India
Aker Solutions has advised it will be making additional job cuts across its worldwide operations.
The Norwegian based firm advised how employees were told today that the move will impact 650 jobs throughout the UK, Norway and India.
A spokesperson for Akers UK operations said 100 jobs were up for axe in its Aberdeen and London offices.
He said: “Aker Solutions today informed employees of the need to reduce the company’s workforce capacity. About 650 positions, mainly in Norway, the UK and India, may be affected. The adjustments are being made because of the continued market slowdown and as part of a global reorganization that will strengthen the company’s competitiveness. Around 100 positions may be affected in Aberdeen and London.”
The job losses were hinted at late last year and come as a result of the continued oil recession.
