NHV, Aberdeen Airport’s newest helicopter operator, has unveiled it’s new heliport at Kirkton Drive, Dyce which forms part of Aberdeen International Airport.

Along with the addition of brand new facilities and a brand new fleet of helicopters, NHV have also invested in two new apprentice engineers. A move that no other Aberdeen helicopter operator has taken this year

The opportunity by NHV came at a time when most organisations working in the oil and gas industry were looking to reduce overheads or minimise unnecessary cost, NHV however was keen to point out that despite tumultuous times within the sector, they are committed to doing their bit for the local area and confident enough in the future of their Aberdeen operation to make significant investments in training future staff and personnel.

With over 200 applications for the positions, applicants were carefully whittled down to just twelve candidates, whom were invited to attend an Evaluation day held at the NHV ‘s Aberdeen hangar. The day consisted of presentations, discussing the role of an Engineer and the structure of the proposed apprenticeship. NHV went on to provide a tour of the facility and their new aircraft before analysing and selecting candidates base on technical assignments, team building exercises, problem solving sessions and finally a formal interview process.

NHV were delighted to announce the selection of Craig Donald and Jade Jack, who will join the organisation as part of a 2 year Apprenticeship programme. Craig and Jade will begin with an 8 month residential placement at Resource Group Aviation Training Academy, where they will complete all of the theory and practical elements required to attain an EASA Part-66 A3 license. They will return to NHV Aberdeen in April 2017, where they will join the Engineering team working under the supervision of senior engineers and gaining additional experience.

Oil and Gas People congratulate Craig and Jade on their new endeavour and wish them every success with their training and future careers at NHV.

NHV have advised they intend to continue the program on an annual basis.
