Breaking: Bristows S92 Goes Tech Offshore Seconds Before Takeoff
Oil and Gas People have just learned that a Bristows S92 Helicopter has had a technical issue moments before taking off from an offshore platform this evening.
The flight was about to embark on the return leg of a crew change to the Safe Boreas with passengers onboard when a warning light came on in the cockpit. The passengers were asked to disembark whilst the helicopter was powered down and restarted but the pilots couldn’t clear the warning light and the chopper has been shut down on deck.
Oil and Gas People has unconfirmed reports that the warning light was giving false readings in relation to the tilt of the aircraft.
The Safe Boreas is a Semi-Sub Flotel owned by Prosafe that is currently alongside the Montrose Alpha platform for Repsol Sinopec.
It is believed that Bristow will fly another helicopter with technicians out in the morning and land on the Jack-up.
Oil and Gas People has approached Bristow Helicopters for a statement and is waiting for a response.
