Probe Launched after Technip Crewman Dies After Quayside Incident
AN investigation has been launched following a death at an Easter Ross port.
Police say they were called to Invergordon on Friday at 8.45am after receiving a report of an industrial accident.
It was later confirmed that the casualty was a crewman with the ship Deep Energy, which has been berthed at Invergordon and operated by subsea engineering and construction firm, Technip.
Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive are carrying out a joint investigation into the incident.
The incident is understood to have happened while the man was working at the Invergordon Service Base on Friday morning.
A Health and Safety Executive spokeswoman said: “We are aware of the incident and are liaising with Police Scotland.”
The accident was believed to have involved a forklift truck.
A spokesman for Technip said yesterday: “It is with deep regret that we confirm that as a result of an incident at the quayside at Invergordon this morning, a crewman from the Technip-operated vessel, Deep Energy, has died.
“The incident was reported at 8.30am. Emergency services attended the scene and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is in progress.
