Massive Explosion and Fire at Petrochemical Terminal
A major explosion followed by a serious fire in Changlian Petrochemical base, located in the Gaolan area of Zhuhai Port, just across the border from Macau at the mouth of the Pearl River
Earlier today, a petrochemical terminal at Zhuhai Port in southern China suffered a major explosion, causing a massive fire, according to Guangdong authorities.
Changlian Petrochemical plant, owned by Zhuhai Changlian Petrochemical Co,.Ltd a subsidiary of the Esson New Energy Group, is located at the Zhuhai Gaolan Port.
According to some eyewitnesses at the scene and sources, at around 1:43 pm local time, some 40 fire trucks and 200 local firefighters were dispatched to the scene, including firefighters from Guangzhou, Foshan, Jiangmen, and Zhongshan.
Following the safety protocols, the terminal workers and nearby areas have been evacuated by the authorities.
